PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Community Migrant Resource Centre is a not-for-profit organisation committed to ensuring that refugees, humanitarian entrants and other migrants in NSW are supported and resourced to fulfil their potential as members of the Australian community. Business Advisors should be formally qualified in a business-related discipline, have substantial and contemporary management experience, knowledge and skills relevant to small business and small business advice, and must have qualifications and skills sufficient for that person to be able to deliver the services in accordance with the requirements of this project.

The project is funded by NSW Department of Industry Business Connect for provision of business advisory services to small business in Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW in Arabic Advisory services will be delivered across Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW.

The Contractor and Business Advisor will deliver a range of Business Connect services including, but not limited to, Business Guidance, Business Skills Training, and Business Referrals to small business in Arabic language, and reflective of the cultural diversity of the community.

Advisory services will be delivered across Metropolitan Sydney and Regional NSW. Advisors are expected to travel within Metropolitan Sydney and work through our outreach offices in Wollongong and Newcastle on a regular basis.

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

  • Business Connect Advisor will deliver face-to-face business advice to Arabic clients including group advisory workshops.

  • Business Connect Advisor will generate new client leads/prospects and develop appropriate networks with key multicultural stakeholders and small business governing bodies.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • High level business management or consulting experience

  • Experience in operating small business, including trends and emerging issues relevant to small business

  • Able to deliver workshops and seminars

  • Advanced stakeholder, relationship & client management, engagement skills and experience

  • Strong business analysis, systems analysis skills and experience

  • Professionalism, public accountability, a proven capacity to show sound judgement and apply common sense

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, representation, influencing and negotiation skills

  • Proven ability to use clear, concise language in correspondence as well as including content befitting the purpose and audience when preparing written briefs & reports

  • Tertiary qualification in economics, finance, marketing, commerce, business management or related disciplines

  • Demonstrated ties to the Arabic cultural group

  • Fluent in Arabic

  • Driver’s license
